The artwork is number 1 in a series of 8 works from the Lovers series. It is currently housed at the famed Sigg Collection at the Castle Mauensee in Switzerland. In 1999 it was shown in conjunction with Berlins 'Long Night of the Museums' at the Carl Zeiss Planetarium in which over 4000 people viewed the artwork within a single night.

Orriss's mastery at 'throughing space' and understanding the relationship between forms is demonstrated beautifully within this work. Still life with Pears was exhibited at the artists exhibition 'Past and Present' at the Carl Zeiss Planetarium in Berlin, Germany. The exhibition was held in conjunction with Berlins famed "Long Night of the Museums" in which over 4000 people attended the exhibition within a single day.

The original sketch for this artwork was drawn on the 26.11.1993 in Dhaka, Bangladesh while the artist was travelling from Australia to Europe with a bicycle, (See Biography). It was during this time that his travelling companion had dengue fever. This Major Work artwork is currently on display at the Baetge Goldschmied Atelier in Berlin, Germany. It forms part of a six year exhibition and will run until 2010.
